Alternia (2021-ongoing project)

What would happen if we were able to communicate through dreams?

Alternia is a dystopian sci-fi graphic novel by self-published author and illustrator Abelard Alexis. His debut YA novel in an ongoing series, Alternia studies coming-of-age and looks intimately at the development and fragility of the self when children are faced with extreme adversity, set in a richly imaginative world where the only limitations are that of the dreaming subconscious.

A world of dreaming; an impossible, fantastic realm of collective consciousness manifested in the wake of earthly devastation. Hope rallied by a young generation, untested but unfailing.

Unlike any other graphic novel series, Alternia will feature segments of full-length prose for a unique blend of storytelling styles, accompanied by visual art, graphic spreads, and a wandering omniscient perspective to explore multiple protagonists with unique trials and tribulations.

• Consultation on visual elements: cover art, illustrations and graphic novel spreads
